I'm Back!!

Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. The fishing trip was (as always) FANTASTIC.

My companions fished each day and always brought in their limit of delicious large walleye. Since I have visited this outfitter and fished his lakes for almost 20 years, I spent less time fishing and most of my time in quiet reflection and reading, just taking in the silence and beauty all around me. It is always a treat for me to go someplace where there are no phones, faxes or email to distract me and Dumoine Lake Cottages in Northwestern Quebec (http://www.kipawaoutfitters.com/) never fails to bring a welcome rest into my life. I was visited by moose, bears, and other smaller critters as well as a multitude of loons and other water fowl who kept me company while my companions were on the lake.

No Cathedral or church anywhere can match the grandeur of God's untouched creation and I can think of no 'holier' a place to celebrate mass than on a flat rock beside a magnificent lake. The song of the loons that were present each morning would put any choir to shame. The grace and peace of such a place never fails to refresh me in body, mind and spirit. Once I upload some photo's I'll share some of the grandeur of this little Quebec corner of heaven.

Sharing this trip with a couple of evangelical protestant ministers also made for some thought provoking and entertaining conversations over dinners and around the box wood stove at night.

Thank you for your part in making it the joyous and grace-filled experience that it was.

Fr. Tim

  2. Tim,

I am glad that you had such a refreshing break in such a beautiful place. That sounds like a place I would really enjoy. It does bring our minds to appreciate the wonder and beauty of God's creation. I still have to catch some walleye perhaps on my next trip to beautiful northwest Ontario. I caught some years ago when my father in law took me fishing near Kenora, but he is gone; so I must see if I can catch some on my own. Very good tasting fish.

  4. I am glad you had a good fishing trip and a time for reflection and relaxation.

Apart from that, it would have been interesting to have been a fly on the wall listening to the thought provoking conversations with a couple of evangelical protestant ministers. If they had been doing there job as they were called to do, you might have had some significant differences of opinion on biblical matters. Surely, you're not going to say you were all in agreement? Am I one of the few remaining who are trying to warn you about the RC system?

Just reading your post brought me joyful serene peace and smiles.

    Many blessings to you!

  6. Tim,
I made a couple of comments, but didn't see them posted. Guess I have been cut off.

  7. There are many ecumenists in the world who have been deceived by the devil into believing the RC system is actually a true church. Better read Loraine Boettner's book to find out the truth. I wonder where these two Protestant ministers you went fishing with stand. Do they believe the RCC is a true church or do they warn you, with love, about the false church and the false gospel? As they are ministers, one would think they know the truth about the RCC. But in these days of great deception and apostasy on every hand, many ministers you would think otherwise of, are badly deceived themselves and going about deceiving others. Tragic indeed. Who is left contending for the faith once delivered to the saints. (Jude)

  9. Tim,

Have you invoked radio silence to avoid being detected? Hope everything is OK.

Your referencing the bible with the inability to know it very well, is fallaciously augmented with the devil's manipulation of Boetner.

The devil knows the bible very well and manipulates the ignorant to abuse God's word as you do.

You really should be better informed.

Hello Michael. Good to see you're alive and well, I hope.

It is an easy out to dismiss every opposing argument as from the devil. But if your position is not supported by Scripture, then who is deceived?

The central issue is the question of what is the final authority in religion? Protestants believe the Bible alone is the final rule of faith and practice. Roman Catholics say it is the Bible and tradition as interpreted by the church. Since the 1870 Vatican Council decreed the doctrine of papal infallibility, the final authority in reality is the pope speaking for the church.

History has shown that whenever any source of authority is place alongside Scripture as of equal importance, then Scripture becomes relegated to the background. If it is tradition, we get ecclesiastical authoritarianism or clericalism. While lip service is paid to the Bible, in reality it has been superseded by manmade dogmas.

That is why the Reformation was necessary. Martin Luther took his stand based on the Bible and said he could (in all conscience) do no other. Unless it could be proven from the Bible he was wrong, he would not be moved.

He was summoned to appear before the Diet of Worms to give an account of his beliefs. It could not be shown his position was wrong.

While Rome claims to be the only interpreter of Scripture for the lay person, God has taught in the Scripture that the Holy Spirit would teach lay people. What a blasphemy to deny this scriptural truth and say only certain men can tell you what God has said in Scripture.

"As for you, the anointing that you received from him remains in you, so that you do not need anyone to teach you. But his anointing teaches you about everything and is true and not false; just as it taught you, remain in him." 1 John ch2 vs27. Saint Joseph's NAB

The anointing spoken of here refers to the Holy
Spirit. The Holy Spirit is also referred to as the Advocate and the Spirit of truth in John ch.16.

"But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you." John 16 vs 13-15.

  13. Wayne:

Pardon my attacks on your theses. I am just fatigued with well meaning Christians trying to save me from the Catholic Church, because of the writings of Boettner and others of his ilk.

I have read Boettner, and those I referenced on my own site Hahn, Keating and Salza for three.

It is hard to understand the Catholic Church from the outside, even if you were once there. Because, as you have stated indirectly, you were not committed to Christ when you were in the Church.

Romans 14:13 says that we are not to pass judgment on one another, but are to resolve to put no stumbling block or hindrance in your brother's way.

So, when we could be bringing the Good News to our brothers and sisters who are without it, you seem to prefer to take shots at the Catholic Church, because of false understandings of her veracity.

There are no teachings in the Catholic Church that are contrary to scripture, but you would have to research that from Church documents to know that. I have as I have needed to. Fr. Tim has as he has needed to. They are available and amazingly are mostly online.

However, if you would like to discuss in detail the teachings of the Catholic Church with one who is probably much better able to provide information and scholarly discussion for you than even Father Tim, I would recommend that you be in contact with Father Michael Prieur of St. Peter's Seminary in London, Ontario, a teacher of Father Tim, and friend and guide of my own.

But, I assure you something that you know in your heart. The devil would rather have us squabble over dogma than live the Good News in truth and honesty.

You are welcome to how you live out your faith in Christ. You are not welcome to criticize others living our their love of Christ as He guides them. That, my friend is very unbiblical.
